
2 tbs sugar
2 tbs hot water
2 ts finely grated fresh ginger
1 3-inch slice of cucumber
3 basil leaves
4 oz gin, Hendriks is a good brand
2 tbs fresh lime juice
In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the hot water.
Press the grated ginger through a fine strainer set over the bowl, releasing the juice.
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the diced cucumber with 2 basil leaves. Add the ginger juice, gin, lime juice and a handful of ice cubes. Shake well and strain into 2 cocktail glasses. Garnish with basil leaf.
